We realize that compared to the rest of the country we have it easy but it is all relative and we know it’s hard for some of you. Just remember that the body needs more rest during cold weather and it’s best to eat soothing warm foods. Soup. Soup. Soup. Can’t get enough of it. We have been asked by our amazing cleanse group to give you all some ideas for cleanse friendly breakfast and snack items. We sat around the table and discussed our favorites. Here are ideas from the lovely TTG Gals:
Monessa: Slice half an avocado onto a piece of toasted TTG Health Nut Bread or a healthy whole grain of choice and top with some tomato, salsa, a poached egg and some sprouts. A squeeze of lemon is always nice as well, as are some nice chopped herbs.
Shasta: Try a savory oatmeal. Cook it in any stock/broth you may have (homemade is, as always, best) and some ginger and/or garlic and top with soy, sesame oil, chopped scallions and a poached egg.
Rebeca: Cut up fruit of choice and top with cashew cream (carisoprodol 500mg online) & shredded coconut.
Sarah: Make a batch of egg bites in a muffin tin and have them ready to grab if on the run. Basically a frittata recipe (add all your favorite vegetables and/or whole grains), pour into muffin tins, bake and cool.
Tim: Have a nice salad. Cut up whatever vegetables you desire into aesthetically pleasing shapes and top with a good olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, a slice of feta cheese & lots of flat leaf parsley. All of these ideas can be tweaked as you please and as your diet allows. We realize that these are nowhere near your regular American breakfast which is usually sugar, fat and carb filled. The best way to fill that void is to change your desires so you feel happy to be putting fuel into your body rather than poison. On this cleanse we are avoiding sugar in all forms (yes, including liquor), other than the odd piece of whole fruit, gluten, all white foods (other than turnips, daikon & jicama and such), caffeine (other than green tea) & ALL processed foods. We are only eating lean organic proteins and limiting dairy. The point of this cleanse is to help you get to a place where this way of eating makes you happy and doesn’t make you think you are deprived in any way. You are fueling your body in a way that helps you through the day, not drugging it to keep going under false pretenses. Caffeine and sugar make you feel better for a short while but the stress on your liver and kidneys will actually weaken you over time. Anyhow, enough preaching. Just think before you put something into your mouth and be a happy person, this goes a long way.
Go get a massage from your favorite therapist or indulge in a bodywork session you’ve always wanted to try. Use the $ you may have spent at happy hour on something good for you.
